In 2004 Public Broadcasting System premiered the series Colonial House about life in Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1628. An interesting interactive on this companion website brings colonial history alive. By reading the diaries of the various colonists presented, students figure out who wrote the mystery diary. A glossary defines the 17th century words that are unfamiliar to today’s students so they can “translate” the diaries into 21st century parlance.

Deleting AR Quiz Attempts
Teachers
have the ability to delete student quiz records on their own; this is not
something I have to do. If you need to delete a student quiz
attempt:
- Log in to your
Renaissance Place account
- Under Accelerated Reader
click on “Record Books and Goals”
- Click on “Reading
Practice Quizzes”
- Select the class period
the student is in from the drop down menu
- Click on their
name
- Find the quiz you wish to
delete and click delete
That’s
it!

Educational video sites
Are you looking for a video to show your class? Or maybe just a short clip to use as an interest grabber as you introduce a new topic? Check out WatchKnowLearn for free educational videos that are searchable.
Welcome
After years of sending teachers emails with websites that they might find useful I finally decided to put up a blog. Feel free to subscribe to it (stop by my desk if you don't know how!) and to share it with other educators. I hope you all find this useful!
